Good luck getting anyone prosecuted for it. We get a lot of crap put in our mailbox, mainly be religious organizations and cleaning services, and I can’t even get anyone at the USPS to hear a complaint about it. Oh, for the good old days where they’d have strapped them in leg irons for that sort of thing.
Like that pot smuggling dude in California in the early 80s. He “forgot” his book with all his contacts, $$$, drop points, etc. in a diner. Dude did 9 years!!
I can actually understand that one. Rare is the pot dealer that can resist sampling his own wares.

She was quite frankly so embarrassed that I wondered if I did the right thing. Hope she believed that I did not read much of it but I tried to be as reassuring as possible. She had put it on top of her car while loading it and it fell off as she passed the driveway.
What method did you use? Inquiring minds want to know. That and the morbidly curious.
As it happens, I caught her just pulling into the driveway. Possibly due to the bad storm and tornado watches, they were not home late last night so I couldn’t reach the car. By the look on her face as I called to her, she knew what it was about.
Then you did do the right thing. She has probably been worried sick about it for the four days. She may have been really embarrassed when you gave it to her, but I imagine it is a drop in the bucket to what she was going through while wondering who picked it up.
I hope you snicker and shake your head whenever you see her.
