I’ve seen various websites (such as www.GameSpot.com) that embed videos (apparently using the Flash format) right into the website’s design.
How could I go about embedding videos in a similar fashion? For instance, would I be able to take an existing wmv or mpeg, and display it within a Flash window?
Thanks!
If you have $700 spare you could buy Flash Professional.
Or, if you only have $50 spare you could buy SwishVideo.
Or if you have sense, you could just avoid using Flash videos altogether.
Like the good web designers do.
Yes, because clearly the web designers at YouTube, GameSpot, among others, clearly don’t do what they’re doing.
Listen, I’m not a huge fan of typical Flash designs either, but from what I’ve seen, Flash video seems to work pretty damn well, and it can look nice when used properly.
Oh, and thanks for the links by the way. I tried the Flash Professional demo earlier, but I really don’t have the time to learn a complex product, nor do I want to spend $700 on something I may not even stick with.
However, that SwishVideo link looks to be perfect for what I’m doing. I downloaded the demo and I’ll give it a whirl.
Thanks!
There’s an open source alternative to Flash for web-based videos.
It’s called Theora but it’s still in development.
