The term for what is being described is literally transgender genocide:
I pointed out exactly why it is genocide even in the first step, since the purpose of depriving trans people of their healthcare is to make them no longer exist. It is not merely oppression, as oppression is not about eliminating a group of people.
This isn’t about it being bad. It’s about it being systemic attempt to eliminate an entire group of people. Trans people are people, and thus they count.
And the author of what I linked is a trans woman and activist. She knows more than you about this topic.

Conservatives realize that they can’t actually ‘re-educate’ queer people to be straight; they just want to push them so far underground that they live closeted lives of silent desperation, so it doesn’t discomfort them and perhaps raise their own ‘unholy’ urges. They’re not intentionally mean (for the most part), just callous and lacking in compassion.
MAGA fucksticks just want to hurt people, whomever they can, however they can, just as bullies and zealots have done from time immemorial. Today, it is immigrants, gay, and transgender people. Tomorrow it will be ‘uppity’ women. Then ‘intellectuals’, i.e. anyone who questions dogma. Which is a reason to push back on them even if you don’t fall into any of these categories because eventually they’ll come around to you, too, even if you are one of them.
That’s a very helpful map! It probably goes without saying, but in case it doesn’t, OP, be aware that when states are colored blue on the map, it means the majority of the population is accepting. In many states, including Washington, where I live, and Illinois, where I grew up, there are still vast red areas. State laws cover the entire state, but in eastern Washington and almost all of Illinois below Chicagoland, you may be subject to aggression and prejudices despite the laws.
I might have missed it, but if you need hormones, you might want to start building a stockpile, and exploring alternative ways to get them. I believe you really need a prescription for testosterone, but it’s ~legal to get estrogen on the gray market.

Just to clear some things up, no, I don’t plan on obtaining any hormone medications. At most, I would get facial hair lasered off, but that’s about it, and that’s mainly because I just hate how it feels on my face. Too itchy, lol.
But now, after all your messages, and showing that Wisconsin is MOST LIKELY going to be mostly fine…I’m not scared anymore.

Gorcenski, who penned this piece, aspects of which go beyond my POV.
I expressed myself poorly. I endorse your quoted twitter thread, but know nothing about the opinions of its author outside of that thread. I didn’t mean to dis them. I agree with them that the most vilified minorities are most vulnerable. I believe that transgender genocide is a substantial risk using Lemkin criteria, but we aren’t there yet.
Banquet_Bear: Your warning is very much worth bearing in mind. I say oppression will vary from college to college and nothing beats local knowledge of the same.

More importantly, I’m glad we helped. This thread has helped me focus my response to current event. I need to be an ally. That is better than doomscrolling.
This is also true in NY; but although I’m in a pretty red area, I think you’d be OK here. I don’t know whether that’s just easier to say from my point of view; but there’s at least one pretty lively and quite visible justice group that has not, as near as I can tell, been drawing significant trouble.
That seems a reasonable response. I’m equal parts pissed off and disappointed and I don’t even have a dog in the fight.
I have a Christian friend who is extremely pissed off at Christian Nationalists ruining reputation of their faith for everyone else. I pointed that Christian Nationalists are long on the Nationalist and short on the Christian, rather like National Socialists were long on Nationalist and not very Socialist.
That reminds me of how my mother told me she didn’t tell people she was Christian because she didn’t want them to be afraid of her. And that was decades ago, they’ve been ruining Christianity’s reputation a long time.
Monotheism got as big as it did in the first place because it took the opposite viewpoint; that everyone in the world must be converted to the one true faith no matter the cost. Some people may have decided otherwise later, but that’s just them deviating from the core purpose of the religion they follow.
