The thermometer was at -22F this morning. Lone Rock Wisconsin had an official low of -40F this morning.
I’ve been testing a CFL bulb in the garage to see if we can depend on them in winter. It was dimmer for a couple minutes but usable.
The old lady mother helps that refuses to ever do what is necessary if she needs to was real fun last night. Her furnace was once again dead and she waited until 19:00 when mother took her supplies to say something. Try getting somebody at that time of night during extreme cold to work on a furnance when they have been doing it for 12 hours already. She could have said something hours earlier. The furnace should have been replaced years ago, but the lady won’t do it. The guy got it working last night at about 20:30 and it has to be replaced today. While it was not known if the house would have a furnace working mother told her she may need to go somewhere for a day. The usual type of response was given. What if I refuse? Ma told her it didn’t matter, they will make you leave and then evaluate you for mental problems. The lady is 80+ in years and almost immobile. This lady is a pain in everybody’s ass that tries to help her and nothing they do is right. She’s her own worst enemy.
I’m not going to talk about the old lady in this thread again. i just wanted to mention her because I needed to state how unreasonable she was. She would have been in great shape this morning in a house at -22F, but she’s not going to leave.
It’s warmer in Moscow (the one in Russia) than it is here (it’s 30 there now). For the second time this winter, I want to invade Russia in the winter to get warm.
It was -13 with a wind chill of -30 this morning. It’s going to warm up to a blistering 9F later today. That’s almost shorts & flip-flops weather, compared to what we’ve been having lately.
My truck told me it was -10 this morning and that’s generally fairly accurate. Weather.com says it’s now -8 with wind chill of -20. All area schools are closed. This is the Lansing MI area.

A couple of years ago, I flew to San Diego when it was 0 here. I’m checking into the hotel where the outside temperature was 65 – and they were using space heaters. :rolleyes:
-17F this morning in Madison. (It was probably colder a couple of hours ago.) I’ve lived here since Saturday and already they’re having near-record cold? Is this some sort of a test?
