Of course, it’s much worse with Trump supporters, but it does seem to me that she doesn’t want the votes of “deplorables” so they should vote for someone else.

No, what would make me happy is an end to the self righteous hypocrisy of Democrats on the subject, when they are already presiding over a lot of ethnic groups who don’t actually like each other very much, and plenty of whites whose racial animus is secondary to their desire to get a Social Security check.

End welfare as we know it is a statement well focused group to get exactly the reaction he needed out of white voters. Of course he didn’t mean a word of it and only signed welfare reform because he needed to win an election, which in many Democrats’ eyes is a sign of virtue.
The fact is, Clinton can’t win without some support from people holding racist views. So if she’s saying she doesn’t want their support, then that’s very brave, she should be commended, and President Trump should give her a medal.

You make a very good point that holders of “deplorable” views aren’t just in one party, but I disagree with you there: it wouldn’t be brave, it would just be stupid, as well as pointlessly ideological.
I think the “are you racist/sexist/islamophobic/xenophobic” question is dumb, since people disagree on what these words mean, and for that matter about whether they’re deplorable at all. I don’t have “hatred” towards any group of people, but certainly by the standards of this message board (and possibly by Hillary Clinton’s standards, and by the ones of the Vox article) I would qualify as ‘deplorable’ on at least some axes. I strongly disagree with standard liberal positions on immigration and Islam, to some extent on race and gender as well. That’s fine (I think arguing about definitions is silly), but even if you do have those ‘deplorable views’ that is still not a good reason to vote for Donald Trump. (There are very few good concrete policy reasons to vote for Trump. Less likelihood of conflict with Russia, and tougher abortion policy, are probably the best, but they aren’t enough). Trump is a fundamentally unserious and irresponsible candidate in a way that, for example, much of the European anti-immigration parties aren’t. He’s going to worsen the racial and ethnic climate without achieveing any good by it. And his views about economics, the environment etc., are also mostly standard Republican positions with which I totally disagree.
That doesn’t mean I’m going to vote for Clinton, although I might (her foreign policy is the deal breaker for me, and she is going to win this state anyway, so more likely I vote for either Jill Stein or Darrell Castle). But just to underscore what you said: even if you do hold ‘deplorable’ views, there are lots of good reasons you might still vote for Hillary Clinton.
