It would seem a little odd to say, “Today in the news, terrorists sent me a letter…”
How did he report on this issue, that day and following it up in the days after?

Since no one has answered this yet, I’ll tell what I remembered. I’m really paraphrasing, but the show opening went something like this: “We are in the unhappy position of reporting that a member of my staff has been exposed to anthrax. Her full recovery is expected.” He went on to say that they’re reporting from a different location due to the contamination.
Oddly enough, this is one of the few times I watched Brokaw in the last few years.
He mentioned some personal feelings at the end of the show, about how she was a strong individual… and that the words he had for the perpetrators were not “socially acceptable”.
