How did Lent go for everyone

How did everyone do with their giving something up. I have gone 40 days without any nicotine of any form and am feeling pretty damn proud. I deserve an award…maybe a pack of Lucky Strikes. Anyway who was successful and who failed. Dopers check in.

Went great for me. Many years ago, I gave up giving up things for Lent. Shortly thereafter, I gave up Lent. I had a great time doing stuff like eating a bag of M&Ms in front of folks who gave up chocolate or sweets.

Lotsa fun!

I gave up booze, soda and candy. I made it one week with booze, was only able to restrain myself to one soda for a couple days before I gave up, but I’m still hanging in with the candy. Woo! (I wasn’t expecting to bat 1.000 with all three, but I am pleased that I managed to stick with ONE of them.)

Is Lent over on Friday or Sunday? I’m dying for some black Jelly Beans.

Just a question, would you consider it fun to eat in front of a muslim fasting during Ramadan?

As for my lent I gave up sweets of all kinds, and exept for when I had some of my brothers birthday cake, I’ve been able to stick to it.

I have been candy-free since Ash Wednesday, but I am quite ready for Easter morn.

My boss has continued re-filling our candy basket at work, and I’m anxious to try the new caramel and dark chocolate Hershey’s kisses that I’ve stashed away in my drawer. I am also looking forward to the Hershey’s peanut butter egg that I put in the freezer compartment of the office fridge about four weeks ago. Then there’s the Cadbury creame eggs that my mom always gets me.

And I wonder why my wife worries that I have (or will have) diabetes!

Well, sorta both. The end of Thursday mass through the Vigil is all one church calendar day, IIRC.

Housework-improvement is going okay. Could have been better, but I felt a lot more motivated than usual.

Giving up complaining didn’t go so well. I think Ididn’t complain at all for the first week, and then I broke down.

I gave up meat for Lent. Not all animal products, I eat eggs and cheese and such. I haven’t eaten a bit of solid meat. But today I was making dressing for the meal special at my cafe, and I had to taste it before I baked it, to be sure the seasoning was correct. I did use turkey broth to moisten the dry bread, so I guess tecnically I had a bit of a meat product.

Yeah, one year I gave up religion for lent.

Never bothered to start up again.

I vowed not to say one nice thing about Mr. G.W. Bush on Pennsylvania Avenue. I’m pleased to say that I stuck to it. He made it easy, though. I was not tempted.

Every year I give up Catholicism for Lent. I say that mostly just to be a smart-ass. I was raised Catholic but I haven’t been practicing for ummm 14 years or so. Coincidentally, I’m actually going to Mass on Easter (which I’ve always thought is the end of Lent) this year because my Mom is getting confirmed. It’s almost as if I really gave it up for Lent, and now I’m going back. We’ll see.

I gave up chocolate and only had it on Sundays because they really, truly aren’t part of the 40 days and dammit I need my Reese’s! Let’s just say I’m gonna have one hell of an Easter basket Sunday morning! (And Saturday is the last day of Lent, BTW.)

I gave up candy and chips. I had a small bag of Cheetos last week (does that count), but other than that I’ve been able to resist temptation.
