They’re supposed to be, but most people inadvertently uninstall them.

One way to do it would be to use the non-printing character ­ .
So typing &­#173; produces ­ which in turn produces nothing.
(note that using the preview feature messes things up)

Hmmm, so it’s not infinity but 8 on its side. Wouldn’t infinity be symmetrical?
