My undefeated streak of never having to change (or even hold) a baby is still going strong at 43 years! Never having to change a diaper is one of my life goals.
OMG! How did no one else ever tell me this! Thank you!
I learned to change a baby at a “so you’re going to be a parent” basics class in front of like 50 people when they asked if anyone who’d never changed a baby would come up and help for the demonstration.
They handed me a diaper and a newborn-sized doll with a diaper on it and said “The baby needs a change” and I fumbled through it. I tried to put the diaper on backwards at first but other than that did fine.
It’s certainly easier to start with a newborn. They don’t go anywhere. Changing an 18-month-old’s diaper, especially when she wants to be doing something else like my daughter did this morning, is a much greater challenge and it helps to have an extra hand or six.
