Seems like this one split the Democrats pretty badly, huh? And I notice already that the more strident websites of activism are going after those Democrats who voted “yea” with a vengeance.
I’m reminded of 1968, where the riots were in Chicago and not Miami Beach.
The Democrats have to decide whether they are going to be a governing party or an activist party, and issues like this are the decision point.
So in another thread you blame Dems for being too partisan, and here you take them to task for not being of one mind. Typical. And I’d hardly call disagreement along a 2-9 ratio “split badly”.
Not surprisingly (hey, it’s why I voted for her), Barbara Lee voted No. The news about Feinstein is quite depressing, though.
Rep. Mike Pence, a loyal Newt-tron, yes
Sen. Dick Lugar, out of town to give some award
Sen. Evan Bayh, yes
A lot of democrats voted yes to avoid being “soft on terrorism.”

I’m so disgusted I’m leaving the Party and going Independent. It won’t make one whit of difference except I’ll feel better.

Both senators (D-Leahy and I-Sanders) voted no as did my rep. (D-Welsh.) No surprises there.
