I’m applying for a job and one of the selection criteria is ‘ability to manage ethical behaviour’ - I’m a bit stumped on how to write a paragraph to half a page on this.
Now, I’m not asking for anyone to write it for me, since that would be, um, unethical, but does anyone have any clue on an approach? So far, I’ve just talked about working with confidential data and on confidential committees, but should I be approaching it from a different angle?
I would write about my own ethics and why they’re important to me. I’m sure he’s looking for a glimpse into your personal compass. Something that will tell him that this quality is inherent in you…not something you have to struggle with or reason out in your mind when an incident presents itself. Maybe.
Thanks Kalhoun. I ended up using an example of ensuring equity of access when planning future health services (ie ethical treatment of rural residents). Hopefully it’ll fit the bill.
Are they asking you how you manage to behave ethically, or are they asking you how you would enforce ethical behavior among those you manage?
