I desperately want a copy of this movie. http://us.imdb.com/Title?0159784
The name of the movie is Takedown. It was filmed in the US in 1998. The director was Joe Chappelle.
As far as I can tell from IMDB it was released in France and Iceland in 2000. I don’t think that it was ever released in the US.
It seems like a number of people in the US have seen the movie (judging from the user comments). How does one go about getting a copy of a movie released in France or Iceland? There is mention of a DVD. Would a DVD from France or Iceland work in my DVD player or on my computer? I would be happy with a VHS if I could get one but a DVD would be better.
Mostly I just need to know how to legally purchase a copy of this movie and where I could purchase it from. How/where do you buy movies released in other countries? My web searches have turned up nothing.
Well, I’m starting with Google, “purchase foreign videos”.
Cinema Warehouse.
Movies Unlimited
ReelClassics
Other places to look.
Another idea would be to look in Leonard Maltin’s movie review book–he usually has a list of places to buy videos in the front.
You will probably not be able to play a DVD that is for sale in Europe with a DVD player purchased in the US. There is no difference in the DVDs except for a region code that the DVD player will used to prevent you from viewing a DVD from outside your region.
I have heard that you can get DVD players that will not check the region code but I have not seen one. Not that I looked that hard.
Apparently, you can get it here.
It’s listed as Operation Takedown on that page.
One page I found said Takedown would be released in the US this December. Other pages say that there is no US release planned. There is some legal battle going on that I don’t fully understand.
Additionally, you can see the real Kevin Mitnick on ABC’s Alias sunday October 28. He plays a CIA computer expert. As a condition of his parole, he is not allowed to operate a computer until 2003. They used fake computers on the set of alias.

Thanks for all of your help.
DDG - It is going to take me a few hours to sort through all of those links. I have already sent a couple of emails to the ones that say they can help you find the movie you are looking for. Wish me luck!
Lance, thanks for the info on the other Mitnick movie, but it isn’t really him I am interested in. I just want a copy of this particular movie. And, I do know that it is probably an awful movie.
