How do I clear my Netscape e-mail filter log?

Since I was drowning in spam, I set up filters for my Netscape e-mail. (I also signed up with Earthlink Spaminator, which works better than my filters.) But whenever my filters delete an e-mail, it makes a note of it in the filter log. Of all the e-mails it’s deleted, I’ve only found a log entry for a single e-mail that wasn’t spam. Still, I suppose it’s good to check it once in a while.

But I haven’t figured out how to clear it. I have a list of every e-mail my filters have caught since I set them up over a year ago.

So how do I clear my filter log?

[sub]And when will people stop sending me those damned “NO-RESPONDAS-DO-NOT-ANSWER” e-mails? I don’t even speak Spanish![/sub]

Anyone?

I don’t use Netscape mail, but could you try this?
Do a Search For Files or Folders (or use Sherlock if you’re on MacOS), search for a string that you know is contained in the log file (e.g. an unusual e-mail address), limiting the search to folders that seem a likely candidate for Netscape to store a log file, then rename the file (don’t delete it in case Netscape Mail dies a horrible death) to something else and see if your log is cleared.

Yikes! I hoped I didn’t have a log after reading your post, and fortunately, when I checked my Netscape email, I noticed I don’t have a check mark in the box, Log Filter Use. I use Communicator 4.72.

You might check to see if you have a Program File like:

Program Files/Netscape/users/User00/mail/mailfilt.org

If so, you may be able to delete it.

Does this site help:

http://www.iinet.net.au/support/netscape.html

Before submitting this I noticed Arnold’s suggestion. That sounds good and safe.

I went the long way and did a search for it. Turns out it was where Violet said (with my username). I opened the file and deleted its contents, then saved it. Now when I view the log in the filter preferences, it’s empty.

Thanks!
