So the night crew is out there again. They have done this several times over the past few months, always regular nonemergency work (e.g. resurfacing or line painting)
They almost always bring jackhammers
I have looked at my township website and done some Googling, but it seems that construction schedules are kept close to the vest.
How can I know which night I should plan on cashing in some Marriott points in order to sleep peacefully?
Is there a proper way to find out when my street will be chewed up without having to attend town planning meetings or request documents in triplicate with onerous fees?
You could try just calling the city and asking them. That would be your best bet. Unfortunately, if they’re contracting out the work, which I assume they are, they probably only know the deadline and not what day specific work will be taking place. I suppose you could call the construction company and ask them.
Good suggestions above. I live in Missouri and their DOT website allows you to sign up for emails regarding planned or emergency road closings and construction. I get emails about three or four times a week. I can select the areas of interest. NJ might have something similar.
Another thing you could do is go ask the guys working on the road. Find out who they are and who they answer to. Their boss/supervisor should have a schedule.
Wow, I know I searched the township website before, but this time I found something. They have a very high level calendar posted that lists a road and what they are doing with it (e.g. milling and paving).
Still, between the local website and that New Jersey DOT one posted above, there are only a few dozen projects mentioned, while there are probably hundreds of road crews peppering the state’s roads.
And I did consider asking them, but figured that the guys knew about their particular job, but wouldn’t know about upcoming ones.
I guess I’ll never find anything that says “Next Tuesday night we will be jackhammering on the highway overpass behind your house”
