Specifically from California? My oldest daughter needs one on herself to get her own apartment through Mesa County, Colorado since she has lived here less than 18 months. Her grandparents and I thank you in advance!

If you live in Petaluma here’s what you do.

What is a clearance letter?

You may request a letter from Petaluma that states that you have no criminal history with this department (provided you have a clear criminal record). The letter only includes the previous eight years and only encompasses Petaluma Police’s jurisdiction.

How do I obtain one?

You must provide a copy of your valid driver’s license, a written request, and a fee of $12.00. Due to staffing constraints, we do not provide counter service. Most request can be fulfilled within two days, providing the requestors record is clear.

I’m guessing that if you live elsewhere in California, the procedure is similar. Call the local cop shop for a better answer.

Thanks for the info, but I don’t live in California. I live in Colorado. My daughter used to live there; now she lives here, and needs the report for Mesa County paperwork to get her own apartment. Apparently, she needs to prove that she is not a felon, or something. Thanks!
