They’re great seats. It’s too late to use StubHub, I’m in Manhattan so I’d prefer not having to go all the way out to Shea. Any ideas?
You’re in Manhattan so it’s too much trouble to go all the way out to Shea? Wow. I mean, baseball is not my thing, but I have come down from Albany to NYC for something I really wanted!
As for the Mets tickets, have you just asked around? Coworkers maybe?
I’m assuming he means that he doesn’t want to go out to Shea to sell the tickets outside the stadium.
How about putting them up on Craigslist?
Check the Baseball Thread and look for the Mets fans. robardin, Anyrose, AndyPolley are. pseudotriton ruber ruber is not, but might be interested and lives in NYC.
Good Luck,
Jim
That’s correct. I’ll look into Craigslist. Thanks.
Anaamika, I’m a Yankee fan. The only way I’ll ever go to Shea to actually watch a game is if its the World Series, and the Yankees are playing the Mets.
And you just might get that this year. So you better go to all the games in both the Bronx and Queens, or I’ll be back here in a month, bumping this thread and asking where you were.
Oh, OK. Try Craiglist, I guess. Or stand outside your building with a sign?
I hear you JJ. I live spitting distance from Shea (well, for a champion spitter on horse steroids) and I feel the same way.
I wish I was lucky (and wealthy) enough to go to all the games. I’d probably get out to 1-2 games if the stars are aligned just right. Last Subway Series, I had incredible seats…for Game 6. Too bad it only lasted 5.
I got Game one at The Stadium for October 21st. I was game one last Subway Series. It was one of the best games I have ever been too.

If I win the lottery I’ll be going to a playoff game but I don’t expect that happening.
Emanuel who has tickets for Sunday but can’t go due to the holiday
I couldn’t sell the tickets via Craigslist, so I went to Shea. What a pain. I had 4 front row tickets (3rd base line) that I wanted to sell at the $50 face value. I wasn’t looking to make a profit, although I got them for free (but no one had any way of knowing this).
As soon as I got there, I walked to an area where people were purchasing tickets. A security guard asked me why I was walking around. I told him that I had 4 front row tickets that I wanted to sell at face value. He told me that at that point, I could be handcuffed and arrested for admitting that I was scalping tickets. It didn’t matter that I wasn’t selling them at higher than face value. I decided that if I couldn’t sell them, I’d give them away to some kids who probably weren’t used to seeing a game from the front row. This guy was a jerk: “If you’re really going to give them away, give them to me.” He basically was assuming that I was lying. I told him that I’d rather give them away to some kids who would appreciate them more. He said that it just so happened that he knew 4 kids that could use them. I said that I’d be happy to meet them and hand them the tickets. His response: “Either give them to me, or get the hell back on the subway and make sure that I don’t see your face. I’ve got handcuffs that are just waiting for you.”
So I dropped them on the ground and left. This guy clearly had it in for me. I wasn’t about to spend the weekend in jail. As I looked back, he picked them up and smiled to himself. In retrospect, I think I made a good decision. This guy was on the verge of putting me in the paddy wagon. But I’m still pretty damn angry about it. I understand that he really had no right to arrest me. But I didn’t want to have to explain that to some judge after a weekend in prison. I guess you have to pick and choose your battles.
