How do I get texts off on old flip phone?

I have an ancient flip phone with some texts on it which I might need for a court case. I now have an iphone. Is there any way to transfer these old texts to the iphone? I’ve tried putting my sim card back into the old phone, then putting it back into my iphone, without any luck.

I would also like to get them into some type of printable form, but can’t figure that out either.

The text message can be in one of two places - in the phone’s internal memory, or in the SIM card. Typically there are tools in the phone to see where they are stored. If the phone has a computer link capability (even quite old phones did, even before BluTooth, they used infra-red or simple serial links.) you may be able to get them off. You would need to find appropriate software that can communicate with the phone, depending upon vendor this can be easy or infuriatingly hard.

If you want these as evidence you might want to talk to your lawyer before doing anything at all to the phone or SIM. You might easily cause issues that would wipe out the validity of it as evidence.

I would just hang onto the old phone. I remember being able to transfer address books and photos to a PC and/or move them to a SIM card on my old flip phones, but never texts (or call logs, voice mails etc.)
