How do I hang these glow-in-dark stars?

My 1-year-old got glow-in-the-dark stars for Christmas, and they have no instructions. They came with what appears to be a bit of double-sided adhesive, but I don’t see how I’d use it. The stars are concave on the attachment side, and have a sort of stick coming straight out from the center. About 0.25 inches from the end of the stick is a little disk (maybe 0.3 inches in diameter) with tiny holes in it. That looks like it would make a good mobile, but they’re supposed to go on the ceiling, and there’s nothing but this little pack of adhesive. Has anyone seen these, and how am I supposed to put these up?

hmmm. With out being able to see it it’s kinda hard to say.

But. It sounds like the adhesive would go on the .3 inch disks on the end of the ‘little stick’, then press it to the ceiling.

Would some double sided tape help? The stuff that is about 1mm thick works pretty well for odd jobs.

In the glow-in-the-dark star packs I’ve bought, the little adhesive thing works like Silly Putty. You pinch off a tiny piece of it for each star and squoosh it onto the back of the star, and then stick the star to the ceiling or wherever. It’s supposed to be removable.

What she said. I have a bunch of those that my sister gave me. You take a little bit of the stuff-a little bit goes a long way!-smoosh it around in your fingertips to get it good and sticky, and then stick it on the star, then on the ceiling.

It can be found in any office supply store-ask for “poster putty”.

Mystery solved?

It turns out that the part of the center axis that sticks out past the back of the star is removable; what remains is a short stub about 1/8" short of the back edges. A bit of double-sided tape or a little blob of putty will fill that nicely.

The removable disks are apparently optional, and are used to make a mobile.

Put them on trial in Texas.

Glo-in-the-dark stars are the coolest! I bought a bunch of sticky glow in the dark stars several years ago, with aspirations of creating whole constellations on the ceiling above my bed. I could fall asleep under the stars every night!

And I did it, too. Only to find that when I’m lying in bed, I don’t have my contacts on, and I can’t see even see the clock 1 foot from my face much less stars on the ceiling 6+ feet away.

<sigh>
