Is there a way in the user control panel to hide my e-mail address from the general public?
Go to User CP, then User Options.
Uncheck ‘Allow vCard Download’
You can also specify whether other users and/or admins can email you further down (that ability doesn’t show your email address)
Click on “UserCP.”
Click on “Edit Options.”
Click on “Messaging and Notifications.”
Take the check mark out of the box that says “Receive Email From Other Members.”
Click on “Save Changes” at the bottom.
Thank you TubaDiva. I didn’t actually have to click on anything to get to Messaging and Notifications, but I assume at this point my e-mail is hiddens from general users. Is there any way to confirm that?
Well, when I click on Tuba’s username in this thread, one of the options is “Send Email to TubaDiva” and there’s no such option when I click your name. So I think it worked.
In addition, if you click on WarmNPrickly’s name, select View Public Profile, and click Send a message via e-mail to WarmNPrickly, it says you can’t do that.
What the heck is a vCard, anyway?
