How do I add a link when Im posting a new question on the message board?

just type out the URL and it will show up as a hyperlink in your thread.

Ok, but how do I rename the link?

When you compose a message, look at the 6th line below “THE STRAIGHT DOPE” banner; it starts “Posts: HTML code is OFF…”. Click on the “vB code” link. That’ll bring up a browser window that explains URL references and all sorts of other vB controls.
