How do I install a codec (XviD)?

Hey gang, I just downloaded a video codec called XviD (not DivX) to play a video file a friend sent me. The .zip file came with no installer or instructions. I’ve looked high and low and all could find in the support forums was that

Dopers, how can I play my video?

Get the binary installer here. It’s a nice, simple, 400KB EXE file. Just run it to install the codec and then play your video.
