Aside from going to the doctor, I mean, which would be the simplest way to find out.
Okay-- there’s no bulge. No contact tenderness or swelling of any kind. But it began as a slight twinge in the left testicle while shoveling snow, which is what has me worried on the hernia count. I stopped shoveling as soon as I felt the twinge (it wasn’t difficult), and today it’s just a dull soreness stretching around the left groin area, inner thigh, and I guess left testicle. Just mildly sore.
I know I should just get it checked out, and I probably will, but does it sound glaringly like, I don’t know, groin pull, hernia, Door Number 3, to those in the know?
A buddy also mentioned that I should wear a jock for a week for really tight support. Is that true? Thanks in advance to anyone who can either reassure me or scare me enough to get to the doctor.
You asked for it… Something to remember about the human body is that a pain in one area can often be caused by a problem in another area. Pain in the arm can be a heart attack. A friend of mine had a pain in his throat and tests revealed colon cancer (which was treated successfully) so get thee to the doc and get it checked out. Think of it as cheap insurance and cheap assurance. Your health is nothing to play around with and if it is something serious, the quicker you get on it, the better your chances of recovery. If it’s not serious, then you get to stop worrying. Getting it checked out is win/win.
To record the diagnosis for General Questions posterity: basically a nerve inflammation. My doc essentially prescribed some high-powered Alleve. (Which I took initially last week and didn’t see much difference from.) But, whatev.
