A friend of mine has been using me and my laptop to handle his iPod download needs. Recently he got a new PC (his first ever) and of course wants all his music on there.
So I plugged his iPod into his new machine and it asked if I wanted to synch with the iPod or wipe it out. I said synch and it told me all of the songs on there (including songs we transferred from his own music CDs) will not move. We cannot even play the songs from the iPod on there when the iPod is plugged in (they are all greyed out).
I understand the DRM stuff to an extent but is Apple essentially telling me the music on my (or anyone’s) iPod is strictly tied to one machine and if it ever dies or you ever upgrade tough luck? The hundreds of dollars you spent on that music just goes out the window?
That seem crazy to me. There must be a way to do this. I do not even want his music on my PC (for the most part I do not like it) and will delete it all once his is working (not to be legal…just to free the space cuz I do not want it on there).
Anyone know the trick to this?
