I haven’t used iTunes in a while, and the update I just downloaded is incomprehensible to me. I can’t believe I can’t figure out something this basic, but after about an hour or so of looking through menus and whatnot, I still can’t figure out how to drag/add/copy a playlist to a device.
Is this update unimaginably terrible, or am I really dumb? Or both?
(Really, it’s that simple - the default setting is to synchronize your iTunes library with the iPod. If you have it set to manually manage your music, you tell it what playlists to synchronize.)
With iTunes open, do you see your iPod listed in the light blue area on the left? If so, just slide the selections you want over to the icon. If it’s not there, you need to connect your iPod to your computer, with the USB cable that came with it.
My guess is, you’re used to dragging playlists over to the iDevice in question and enabled “manually manage music”.
What you need to do is either enable “Show Sidebar”, or just drag the playlist over to the right of the screen, where a popup will open with your devices listed. Drop as usual.
