Hi I’m from the stone age and trying to transfer a song from my pc to my IPOD.
Bought the song off Amazon, it shows up in Itunes on my XP PC, but when I select it and try to drag it onto the IPOD in the device list on the left the cursor turns into an circle with a / when it is over the IPOD.
Help says to select it and drag it onto the IPod.
The song is on my work pc and not my home Pc so I do not want to sync the Ipod and lose all the songs already loaded on it.? Or do I have to buy it from the Itunes place?

You need to put the song into your iTunes library, then sync the iPod. You don’t have to buy the song from the iTunes Music Store, but it does need to be in the iTunes application on your home PC.

Attempting to just drag the song onto the iPod only serves to use the iPod as a portable hard drive, and it appears that your work PC is configured to prevent the use of external drives.

There’s a check box labeled Manually Manage Music or something similar to that. You’ll need to check that before you can drag and drop to your iPod.
