How do I put the screen in my front door?

I have one of those newer storm doors that is basically full length glass instead of the half glass half metal doors of the past. I have a screen that came with the door that is supposed to replace the glass but I can’t figure out how to get teh window out for the life of me.

It basically has like 2 strips of plastic(?) running down each side of the window pane and there is a single screw at the very top which goes into a little track but when I take out the screw I still can’t budge the glass.

If someone has one of these very common doors any advice would be great. I’m sure if you have one you know what I’m talking about. I’ll look online for a picture later.

Thanks.

Kinda like this one:

Take out the plastic trim pieces. There’s probably one at the bottom, too. Then loosen any screws. The glass is probably slipped into a groove along the bottom, so you may have to grasp it by standing at the latch side and lifting it up, then tipping it out.

I think I may have the same door. Mine looks exactly like the photo but I don’t know if it’s an Andersen.

On mine, from the inside, there is a lock below the handle and a button above. Push the button up, then turn the handle COUNTERclockwise. This releases the pins on the left side of the door. Then swing the left edge of the door out of the frame, and the rest becomes obvious.

If this doesn’t sound right at all, my last door had strips of plastic along both sides and the top. I gently pried them out with a screwdriver (though be careful about scratching, you might be able to just use your fingers), tilted the top of the glass out, and lifted it out.

I’ll have to try that again tomorrow. I tried that last year and it felt like the trim pieces were bending un naturally, though I gave up fast because I didn’t want to ruin the door.

Just out of curiosity, if you’re in Ohio I would think that October would be the time you should think about taking out the screen and putting the glass in.

Are you having some weird kind of weather inversion this year?
