Without my prior knowledge, a friend added me as an “insights analyst” on a Facebook page for his wife’s political campaign. Now the page shows up in the left-side column whenever I log on to Facebook, along with information about updates to the page. How do I terminate this involuntary status so that the page stops showing up? (I have tried the Facebook help function, but couldn’t find any useful help.)
Try moving your mouse cursor around the box where it says your status, with any luck you will see a pencil-shaped icon (IIRC) that will allow you to edit/block the status.
Thanks, but that isn’t working. There isn’t a box that shows the status, and every box that I have clicked on the page just jumps me back to the page itself. Apparently the only rights that an “insights analyst” has involve viewing statistics about the page. When I hover on the page’s listing in the left-hand column next to my news feed, the only option is “Add to Favorites” (unlike nearly everything else in that column, which does have an option to change its settings or remove it).
Try going to the page that you’re the “insight analyst” for, click Edit Page near the top, then pick Admin Roles. If you’re listed there see if you can find the word Remove to remove yourself.
Tried that too. No luck.
It works, I just tested it. Do you see your name listed on the Admin Roles page? There is an X to the right of that. Click the X and then click the Save Changes button.
I don’t see any way to prevent it from happening again, speak to your friend about it I suppose.
Still no joy. My name doesn’t show up on the Admin Panel. If I go to “Edit Page” and click on “Admin Roles,” it just takes me back to my own news feed.
I don’t know, out of ideas, maybe it’s a bug? At this point I’d try changing something just for the sake of change. Log into Facebook in another browser or on another computer, go to that page, and try the same Edit Page, Admin Roles procedure.
Can you just ask your friend to remove you? Because your friend probably needs to be involved or there is nothing to stop them from just adding you back even if you get removed.
