How do Jews regard Christians?

As a Jew, I don’t need to worry about whether gentiles are “wrong” or “mistaken” or even “delusional.” They’re gentiles. They do their own thing and my own belief system is frankly disinterested in the rightness or wrongness of their belief systems. I have no mandate to try and convince anybody to think the way I do, after all.

I work with many Jewish people in an industry more or less dominated by Jewish people who up until approximately 10 years ago voiced no opinion on Christians at all, and may not have held any. Since then, there has been a general and increasingly vocal underlying sentiment of what I consider caution tinged with a bit of… maybe fear is a bit too harsh, perhaps discomfort or mistrust.

I wonder what happened to alter that.

I am thinking the political climate; that’s definitely the case for me.

Yeah, washing before you eat. What a stupid, primitive idea. It’s like they didn’t realize that disease was caused by demons, not this “germ” stuff.
Next thing they’ll want doctors to wash before operating. Silly Jews!

Living in the south, I see a lot of Christians who talk the Jesus talk but don’t walk the Jesus walk. They judge others, but don’t see their own hypocrisies.

Truth.

Where do you live?

Any non-Jew who obeys the Seven Laws of Noah as most Christians do is righteous. He/she will live in eternal bliss.

But a Jew who keeps 613 Laws will get much greater eternal reward.

Currently Northeast US.

A Noachite who keeps the Seven Laws is righteous, but the reward of a Jew who keeps 613 Laws is much greater. Keeping the Seven Laws is easy.

Briscoe and Logan seemed to get along just fine.

Thank you. Orthodox Jews respect gentiles who obey The Seven Laws.

Where will you find a red heifer? :dubious:

Only the ~400 Commandments applicable today.

Is there a specific list of the ones which aren’t applicable?

All the Commandments dealing with the Temple and sacrifices are not applicable.

Briscoe was raised Catholic.

No, that was Paul. Jesus said (Matthew 5:18) that the Law would last until heaven and earth passed away. Yet Christians would rather believe Paul than Jesus.

One of the many reasons I don’t understand Christians. But I don’t understand Jews, either.

A couple of verses later he says “For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” That could be taken to mean that he thought he was more righteous than the Pharisees, as evidenced by his outburst at the Pharisee’s dinner. Evidently the Jews couldn’t stand his holier-than-thou attitude.

Neither do we.
