North Korea Said to Execute a Top Official with an antiaircraft gun? Seems like overkill to me…
Back during the days of the British Raj, a popular way to punish rebels was strapping them to a cannon, then firing it - which scattered the poor guy across a large area.
Overkill ? Sure. But it sends a message.
How do kill someone with an antiaircraft gun? Pretty frikken easily I would have thought.
Well, I guess if you want to make an example of someone, stui magpie. But Yeuk!
As I understand it, there are a couple of death penalty states in the US that are currently revising their execution protocols. Maybe there are some lessons to be learned here? Perhaps the Oklahoma department of corrections is already in the market for a 20 mm antiaircraft gun?
Pretty damn sure they can get their hands on a .50-cal M2 today if they asked for it.
Anti-aircraft? The condemned should at least be given the opportunity to try to run away while flapping his arms. A sporting chance should make it a bit more interesting for everyone involved.
I suppose you could hit him over the head with it.
Do you put them in a plane, first?
Is this a trick question? A single 20 or 30-mm round through the chest ought to take care of things, regardless of whether it’s incendiary, armor-piercing, HE, or tracer.
IIRC, Saddam Hussein executed at least one person with a block of explosive in the chest pocket of the guy’s shirt.
Ah, here it is. Gruesome for observers, but likely instantaneous/painless for the victim. I expect the same would be true for death by anti-aircraft fire.
Mod note: In the spoiler box is a link to footage of executions. Liveleak already makes you click twice to get to it but no harm in putting in an extra step. Open at your own risk.
Heh. Overkill.
I get it!
In WWII Germany had a damned good 88mm anti-aircraft gun. Someone had the great idea of mounting the gun so that it could shoot somewhat level to the ground and they instantly had a great anti-tank gun. It also made for a pretty good artillery gun too. If you can shot down an aircraft and take out a tank, shooting a person wouldn’t be that much trouble - if not a little overkill.
I think it’s much harder NOT to kill someone with one.
And here I had been thinking of North Korea as a grim and humorless place…
Dammit, wing’d 'em!
"They are my people! I am their sovereign! I LOVE Them.
Pull!"
One story I saw, perhaps misreported, said the execution was done with anti-aircraft missiles.
Now that I’d almost pay to see.
Human skeet. Kewl!
What do you use to launch them? Giant slingshot? Trebuchet? Do you launch them up, or at a brick wall in case Supreme Leader misses (which he is, of course, incapable of missing!)
I wonder in N Korea will take any flak over this?
(I am so ashamed of myself) Maybe ----- but its a long shot.
