I’m on another person’s machine, and every time I press a key it gives audible feedback. I recall that there was a key combination that toggled this on and off, but I don’t remember what it was. Anybody know?
Under Control Panel - Accessibility Options - Filter Keys (which is likely checked). You can either uncheck the box, or open the Settings, and turn the sound off under “Beeps when Keys Pressed or Accepted”. Easier to turn the Filter Keys off entirely, and just turn it back on when you’re done using the person’s computer.
This is assuming use of Windows XP, by the way.
If this is a Dell laptop, it’s a BIOS setting.
Unless you absolutely need sound, it will be easiest to mute the speakers – that way if you forget to reset it, the owner can set things back the way they like it.
Yup, that’s it. Thanks.
He told me he wanted it gone, BTW. Said it just started a couple of weeks ago, but he has not idea why.
