How do we feel about fireworks in the MMP?

In my case, that leaves it wide open. *just for reference

Now I can order my monthly supply of anvils in 2 languages – thanks!

Did I mention that I found a stack of chick tracts on my porch?
I didn’t know they were still around.

I’ve had my share of jury duty when I lived in Baltimore.
Almost made it on a jury once, but I got rejected.
Last time I got selected I was living in the armpit and got out of it because of my business.

I agree WetOne, hot tuna is the yuk.
It’s why I hate tuna casserole.

Unless it’s this

Since it’s already up to 80° in the house and no sight of rain till maybe 4, we’re going to go out for dinner at Kevin’s - that’s where daughter and SIL went last night and FCD liked the sound of their dinner, so that’s where he wants to go. Watch - we’ll get rained on! Just watch!! :stuck_out_tongue:

We got some onesies, a couple of shirts for Roxy, and a plastic table with 2 chairs ($10!!!) for the play area in the basement - photo on FB. So it was a good trip. Plus I can finish the first preggo dress and we decided what to do with her old one (it’s going to become a preggo skirt, and later, a regular skirt. So that’s settled.

But now, just chillage, because. Just because.

Somehow it seems almost required, that if one is in Chattanooga, one should go on a train ride.

Haven’t made it to Tennessee yet, except going through the Memphis airport, and I think there’s a lot of things to do and people to see!

Got a three day weekend, and maybe the sun will come up. Wouldn’t mind sharing some of this chill and wet with the PNW, if possible.

I like tuna melts and I like cold tuna sandwiches. And tuna sushi. Guess I just like tuna.

I’m wearing an orange shirt today.
It’s a symbol adopted in Canada to honour the victims and survivors of residential schools.
It’s the only thing I’m doing to observe (rather than celebrate) Canada Day.

Evening all.

Have read, but barely retained- please help yourself to hugs, trouts, yays etc.

My shifts have changed this week, as they’ve finally decided that the slooooooooooow Sundays really are a waste of everyone’s time. This means I was irking today. Unfortunately, I forgot that I hadn’t reset my alarm to go off on Thursdays, so overslept somewhat this morning… Oops. Not too badly, I still logged on in time, just in a barely caffeinated state not ideal for a busy morning.

I’m planning on starting to load up the car this evening- with only one small room here, I’m running out of space to rearrange things. I’m taking one carload over on Saturday, to be stashed in a garage for a few months (books, winter clothes, kitchen stuff I won’t need in a share, that sort o thing). By UK standards, this means a lot of driving, as it’s gonna be 3 hours each way. Bleh.

We have someone new moved in, and apparently another is expected tomorrow. Both guys, to add to the two guys already here (one of which smells decidedly like Shoe’s irkplace and doesn’t even attempt to clean up after himself). Met today’s new one, I pointed out the communal fridge (one housemate owns his own), and he informed me that he didn’t need it, as he didn’t intend to cook anything, just get takeaway.

I’m really not sorry I’m moving out.

It’s raining - holy crap, is it raining!! And blowing. My veggies are beaten down, as are the planters on the back deck. DANG!!!

Just started raining here about 10 minutes ago, so the Weather Wizards apparently heard both of us.

I picked up the new screen door today. I think I can finger it out. I hope. There are a couple of things in the destructions I have to read again. When I ordered the door, the page said ‘People who bought this also bought this.’ So I ordered a piston. Turns out the door came with one.

I’m picking up some plywood from the orifice Tuesday, so I’ll have to drive the Jeep. Last year I had a flat tire. (Screw in the tire.) I filled it with Fix-A-Flat, and just as I pulled into the tire place, the Fix-A-Flat started seeping from the sidewall. I got a slightly used tire to replace it. The guy said the other three tires were ready to do the same thing. I decided I’d better get new tires all around. They should be at the shop tomorrow afternoon, and I have an appointment to have them installed at 11 ayem on Saturday.

What else… See my GQ post about a/c. And I put on my out-of-orifice email that if an urgent matter arises, call me at home. I didn’t think anyone would do! Our IP address changed with the move, so I had to get our new address from our IT support and send it to the member.

Mrs. L.A. is making fried razor clams tonight.

Well, dinner out was a disappointment. The meals say they come with 2 sides, and one of the listed sides is a salad. What isn’t listed is the $2.99 upcharge for the salad! :open_mouth: It wasn’t a special salad - just some iceberg with chopped 'mater, onion, cuke, and carrot, and half a hard boiled egg. Not even that big!

And, I swear, the green beans were dumped from a can to a pan and warmed up - no attempt at any sort of seasonings. Even some chopped onion would have helped, but nope. And I wouldn’t be surprised if FCD’s mac-n-cheese had been frozen rather than homemade.

The scallops were good. And he does love their fried chicken. But for what we paid, it was very disappointing. We were forced to go to DQ afterwards to assuage our disappointment…

Temps have dropped to mid-70s, and more rain is on the way. Hope the a/c tech gets here early tomorrow - it’s going to take a while to cool the house and dehumidify it. We shall see.

For now, tho, chillage.

We returned from four lovely days on the coast to find Portland in the 70s. It’s supposed to ramp back up into the 90s over the weekend. Speaking of the 4th, put me in the “hate fireworks” column. I’ve never gotten over loud noises after being in Vietnam, and it just seems to get worse over the years. Also, it frightens my cat.

Weather-dot-com says it’s 71º here now. We haven’t had the a/c on all day. The window next to the a/c exhaust is open, the front door is open (with two baby gates), and half of the French doors to the catio is open. And there’s a box fan in front of the front door.

Sorry to hear about your BIL Mooooooom. As someone who smoked most of her adult life (quit ~10 years ago), it’s a battle to quit. I did it several times before it took. Some days, I still would smoke one if I had it and probably eat the filter. :stuck_out_tongue:

wheelie, I’ve never been called for jury duty in my 40 years of eligibility. I think it would be interesting.

Irked ~2 hours over this evening. I may even have gotten some of my regular irk done had I not been fielding emails wanting changes to stuff I turned in two weeks ago and is now finally being approved. Variances change quickly people. Approve those puppies pronto so’s I can take care of EoM.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! We had a bzzzy day today. Yahd got mowed, edged, weed whacked etc. Chikin boobs and ribs got smoked, back porch got cleanded up, and I even cleanded up the smoker. We even pulled an all dayer! No nappage! We snarfed down pizza and sallit for sup. Since then chillage has ensued. Oh, and it’s started to rain a bit.

I read all, but lack comprehension, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Thanks, Swampy! But the report from Canada, here on the night of July 1, is that it sounds like a freaking war zone outside! Booms, bangs, whistling noises, and more booms! All the dogs in the neighbourhood must all be cowering in their cowering-places. I myself, being only an honorary dog, just sit here annoyed and curse the noisemakers heartily.

They’re shooting off fireworks here at the moment. Echoey explosions. I’m not watching them. I don’t feel like celebrating.

I just finished watching a video for a course I’m taking. Very heavy stuff about some of the terrible things Canada has done.

Soaking up the cool weather while I can. Today was busy, as tomorrow night I’m heading to see daughter in Spokane, aka The Gates of Hades.

Got a notice from the complex office. A few months ago, they extended an offer to sign a new lease for when the eviction moratorium ended. I did. Then they said, “Oops! Just kidding! That’s illegal.” Now they’re saying the new rent amount will be considerably more than the increase in the old “sign now” offer. I’m ticked. I’m going in to talk to the manager. I have until August to decide. Wish I could afford to buy a house or could drive so I could live farther out.

flyboy, you must’ve passed by or through my neck of the woods. And how were the razor clams?

FCM, I’m surprised the restaurant wasn’t up to par since your daughter liked it so much. Canned green beans–ugh. A few years ago, a date took me to a restaurant where I swear, everything was canned but the bread. It went out of business.

Storm moving in, already had a power flicker.

I was thinking bidding war at my next review, but that work work.

: reroutes liking biosamples northward :

Understandable.

Tasty. Mrs. L.A. coated them with Chicken In A Biscuit she ground up in the food processor. I made some tartar sauce, and I put some Tabasco on mine. I ate five! :open_mouth: I also had a little calamari salad.
