How do you disable add-on’s?

Ever so often I get this tab at the bottom of my screen on my Windows 7, that supposedly is asking if I want to disable my add-on’s to speed up my browser.

This pops up:

“Speed up browsing by disabling add-on’s.” To the right it gives me two options to click from. One is, “Choose add-on’s.” The other is “Ask me later.” If you click the “Ask me later”, it gives the option also of, “Don’t disable.”

So where is option to disable?

In Firefox it’s under Tools, or use Control + Shift + A. That opens up the Add Ons control panel, and just click Disable on the ones you want disabled.

I use Firefox too. It sounds like a malware issue to me. Why would a pop-up that asks you to disable or choose add-ons be randomly appearing?

Thanks you two. It looks legitimate, but don’t know for sure. I do know my computer has been slow for the last several months. My brother has the same issue.
I’ll see what I can do.

The option to disable is “Choose add-ons”. In context it makes sense, but to be clear it should say “Choose add-ons to disable”.

It’s a legitimate pop-up caused by IE9.

It’s called the Add-on Performance Advisor.

You need to get a [del]bigger boat[/del] better browser. Use Chrome or Firefox.

Interesting, and thanks.

I’m going to do just what others have suggested and probably sometime in the near future, go with another browser. Seems like most have been happy with Firefox.

It happens all the time with MSIE 9.

You turn off the check by selecting “Don’t disable” after you click on “Ask me later.” The popup won’t display until you install another add-in.

So I see. As a Firefox user I was not aware of this feature.
