In order I go to
[li]Great Debates[/li]However by the time I get to something I am comfortable debating the OP has been hijacked to hell or my input is totally irrelevant anymore.
[li] Cafe Society[/li]Hopefully a discussion on something I’ve read recently, alas, usually not the case.
[li] General Questions[/li]Usually to ask a question that has popped into my head seconds before I fell asleep the night before (If I can remember).
[li]IMHO[/li]I am a sucker for IMHO, I just love polls, can’t you tell!?
[li]MPSIMS[/li]Or as I like to call it MP Sims (as in military police)
[li]The PIT[/li]Not usually looking for rants, I just like to see someone getting roasted for an off the wall remark. Pile-ons are fun, but not the same since WB got banned.
[li]ATMB[/li]Just to poke my head in and see the goings ons. Plus I got a thing for Tuba players!
FTR I have never even entered Comments on Cecils Column (why argue with the master) or Comments on Staff Reports (why argue with his lackeys either )
I usually go to IMHO, CS, GD, and GQ. One at a time usually, and not necessarily in that order.
When I am inside, I right click each topic that catches my interest and select “Open in a New Window”. I think holding down SHIFT accomplishes the same, but I like doing it all with the mouse.
Any topics I recently posted into usually gets opened. Then, I read through each window and close it when I’m done. After the last window is done, I go to a new forum from the topics window or use the drop-down list at the bottom of the screen.
I start on Great Debates, then go down the list – Cafe Society, IMHO, and MPSIMS. Probably with one last dash into Great Debates to check what got posted while I read the other forums.
Lately I’ve been dipping into the BBQ Pit, though I’m not sure if that’ll be a regular habit or not.
I start off in MPSIMS, IMHO or Cafe Society, post to stuff that interests me if I feel like posting, then head down to the Pit, check out who is pissed at what and sometimes post to something. I read GQ and GD, but tend not to post in either very much, because I’m not very good at getting right to the point in my posts.
Start with Recent Posts getting an overview of what’s going on. After hitting the interesting ones, open Cafe Society in another window, then (in no particular order) MPSIMS, IMHO, GQ, sometimes ATMB or GD, rarely into the Pit. By keeping ‘recent’ open in its own window, I can go back to it and Refresh, to see new stuff. Very seldom do I go to the Next Page of Recent Posts, cause you can never get back to the first page.
I usually saunter off to GQ first - I’m a curious little boy. Then I go to GD, but almost never input there - I’ve gotten tired of debates. Can’t we all live and let live? I now go to Cafe Society, but because I’m living in a shell with my ears closed and my eyes shut, I don’t input there much. IMHO and MPSIMS are my biggest postcount contributors. I almost never go to the Pit - I’ve only posted there twice. I almost never visit the other forums - computer is shared between four people, and it’s not nice to hog.
I start from the Pit and move upwards (stopping at Great Debates and occasionally foraying into General Questions and ATMB). One disadvantage to starting at the bottom is that I can’t tell who’s mad at whom … it’s only when I’ve reached MPSIMS that I go “Ahhhhh, so that’s why PosterX invited PosterY to suck his testicles. Hmmm.”
