How do you eat apple pie?...mmmm...pie

Warm, lovely, home made apple pie–with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese on the side. Apple and cheese just go together beautifully. Ice cream is sweet-on-sweet and too much sweet for me.

Oh, and my mother always said apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze as well.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten cheese with apple pie. Cheese with fresh apples is just great though, so I can see it working.

Apple pie, hot, with any (or better still, any two) of: vanilla ice cream, clotted cream, evaporated milk, hot vanilla custard.

I will also be making a.p. for Thanksgiving. Maybe I’ll give the cheese thing a try - I loves me some cheddar! Guess I’d better get started making the pie doughs soon (full double crust with messy crimps). Time kind of squeezes up on you when you’re hosting.
