I have a friend who’s interested in doing this temporarily until a better job comes along.
Anyway, does anyone here know how she would go about applying and getting such a job?
Are therer any free weekly papers in her area? Dollars to donuts there will be ads for “adult entertainment services” in the classifieds and the ads may also include hiring information.

You need a toll free number unless you go thru a “company”, I’ve heard bad things about said companies, such as they don’t give the operators all their money. Also it’s handy to have either a webcam or a website with pictures, of course the “client” has to pay extra for access.
Since your friend just wants to do it temporarily, she should go here: www.keen.com look under “entertainment”. Her phone number will be secret, and she won’t see the other person’s number. Keen handles the billing and accounts. She can pick her own price, they get a small percentage.
One of our fellow Dopers had a roommate once that did this for extra money. I will wait to see if she stumbles in here before I say who. The information that she told me was that her roommate was very overweight but that didn’t matter because she had a great voice. The voice is the only thing that matters. Remember that this is all make believe anyway so, to be good at it, you need to be able to sense what the client wants to hear and tell them that. If they want an 18 year old cheerleader, then you become an 18 year old cheerleader. I also know that you generally work from home and get calls only during certain times that I presume that you specify. I am not sure exactly how the calls get to you at home however.
