I’ve got SETI and Rosetta Stone going as we speak! Yay for science!
Ex-cellent! Soon the Universe will be ours!
No power in the 'Verse can stop us!
Just watch out for those messages claiming to be from some guy who’s stolen a million bars of gold-pressed latinum from the Ferengi Commerce Authority and all he needs is the transporter coordinates of your private bank vault to make the transfer.
They aren’t? I beg to differ. BOINC is necessarily generic because it supports a dozen different projects including SETI@home.
I used to run seti@home all the time. Once they switched to BOINC I kind of got the feeling seti really didn’t care whether I donated processor time or not and this new BOINC program ran like crap and switching my username over to it was also a real drag. I uninstalled the whole thing and basically walked away from it.
They want my free processor time, they should make it easy.
Huh. I don’t know about converting an existing account, but starting one up and using it was dead easy.
Oh nice, I stopped reading the SETI message boards after CRUNCHR or whatever his name is repealed his client. It got way too dramatic at that point.
So, I got an e-mail message from the SETI@home people indicating that member 1010011010 has requested that I hand over the privileges and responsibilities of team founder to him.
So, 1010011010 (or may I call you 29A instead?), what would you do differently if you were Supreme Leader? For that matter, what exactly is a SETI@home team founder, having founded the team, supposed to do anyway?
I was under the impression that “Initiate transfer” thing was something that showed up after some period of inactivity on the part of the on-record team founder. I was think in two months (or whatever the time-out was) it would transfer to me.
BUT, you’re still active and doing a just fabulous job of administering The Straight Dopers SETI@home team. I was pretty much just poking you to see if you were dead. Which is slightly inexplicable given that you have multiple posts in this thread, but I think I was tired at the time.
