For dessert sometimes I will have a little bit in a bowl with splenda. Carrots and Celery are also excellent for dipping. My mother used to put a dollop on sliced bananas when I was a kid. I hate bananas so much that this actually put me off PB for years, but my sister still loves it that way. Sometimes she’ll mix in some strawberry jam too.
I kind of hate peanut butter any way but plain on a tortilla. I don’t like it with chocolate at all.
Two favorites:
Boiled greens of some sort, with peanut butter and hot sauce mixed in.
Whole grain bread with peanut butter and hot giardinera peppers in oil.
Peter Pan and Jif are too sweet and are for children. Grownups eat REAL peanut butter. If you don’t have to mix it it ain’t real.
Splenda? Slackergirl, isn’t that the indigestible fat-like substance that causes gas and diarhea at worst and REALLY slippery movements at best? Real peanut oil is actually GOOD for you.
Smucker’s All-Natural Peanut Butter (Chunky)!
Nothing but peanuts and salt (maybe not even the salt).
I just spoon it right out of the jar in the fridge.
Tends to stick to the throat, though, you might want to keep a glass of milk nearby if breathing has become a hobby of yours.
Creamy Jif on white bread with my mom’s strawberry freezer jam not quite thawed so when you spread the jam on the bread, it’s stiff and very cold. That way the jam doesn’t squish out of the sandwich and you can tear off pieces and eat them. Combine this with a tall glass of icy cold milk and a garlic dill pickle chaser**…mmmm…mmmm!
**I cannot have sticky sweet be the last flavor in my mouth–it makes me sick. If I eat ice cream, I have to drink Coke with it. (I know Coke is sweet too but not as sweet as ice cream so it cuts the sweetness.) So anytime I eat a PB&J sandwich, I either have to have a pickle or some chips or something afterward. Just a wierdo nuance!
Is this an All-American thread or what?
When do we see one on ketchup?
Secret sin: a cracker with a smooth coating of Jif and a slice of dill pickle.
late at night when no one is looking.
On carrots. The crunchy kind (of PB, that is).
1: Peanut Buttter & honey on white
2: Peanut butter, extra sharp cheddar cheese and bologna on wheat toast
Can you say ‘comfort food?’
At the Ralphs grocery chain, they have peanut and almond grinders. So I have fresh peanut and almond butter with no additives of any kind. It takes a little getting used to, but once you do, there’s no going back.
I eat it from a spoon, or on an apple.
Ooh, peanut butter…
Peanut butter was my primary food source when I was pregnant with both boys and remains a staple in my diet(haha) now.
My favorite is peanut butter and bacon on toast. Mmm, must go fry bacon now…
Last night just before going to sleep, I had:
PB spread evenly over a saltine, four slices of sharp cheddar cheese and eight green stuffed olives ( oh make that 7 green olives my dog miss penny had one) and a frosty glass of Dr. Pepper. I love to have a snack like this in bed. It was so good it made me want to slap my mother-in-law.
I’m not real big on peanut butter, but when I do eat it it’s Jif Extra Crunchy, on white with grape or strawberry jelly. Or on celery (my husband thinks that’s nasty!), or on carrots, or on apple slices. I used to eat PB and banana with honey on white, fresh or lightly toasted, when I was a kid.
Either smooth or crunchy - on fresh white bread…
Or on a toasted bagel…
Or in a grilled PB sammich…
Dropzone,
Ack, no! Splenda is a sweetener that comes in little packets like Sweet and Low or Equal. It tastes better than those, and it doesn’t breakdown in heat so you can cook with it. I have to control my blood sugar so I use it all the time.
I think that’s olestra. Which I’ve heard doesn’t do anything terrible to you unless you eat a whole lot of it. But, since it was invented souly so folks could eat an entire bag of potato chips in one sitting…
Sure… you just have to be sitting in the right place.
