How do you measure a baseball glove?

I’m in need of a new infielder’s glove, since it seems I’m being shifted from 1B to 3B this season. I have a reliable 1B mitt, but my utility glove seems a bit large and it’s old, so I’m looking to replace it.

I don’t know if my utility mitt is 12.5" or 14". If it’s 12.5", I’ll keep it and just get used to it again, but I’m not sure what it is. Laid flat and measured, heel to tip of middle finger, it’s 11.5". Measured along the pocket, it’s 14.5".

What size glove do I want?

Baseball gloves are measured from the tip of the index finger, down the inside to the heel.

11.5" is a good size for a third basemen.
