How Do You Pronouce MPSIMS?

To prevent further hijacking here, I’ll pose the question in it’s proper forum.

MPSIMS, when I read the name, is pronounced “Em-Pee-Sims”. This is, of course, the one true and correct way of pronouncing it. However, the linked thread shows that many people mispronounce it.

So what’s your way of pronouncing “MPSIMS”?

IMP sims.

mipsums

Mip-sims

M-P- Sims, and I always think of the game when I think of how to say it.

Plus that’s the only way I remember the order of the letter, or I come out with things like MSPIMS

I always figured it was “mipsims”

Mip-Sims.

You’re all wrong.

It’s “MmmmmmP-SIMS.” Although the “mmmmmm” isn’t that long, I just made it that long song you’d realize how it sounded.

How could it be mip-sims? There’s no vowel in there! Stop adding vowels!

I second mmmp-sims. If I’m saying it out loud to somebody else, it comes out more like “emp-sims”, though. Of course, while my schoolmates were fond of referring to lbs. and oz. as “libs” and “oozes”, I always preferred “ulbs” and “oz” (plural or singular), so whatever part of my brain processes odd abbreviation pronunciation is probably messed up.

Count me as another vote for “em pee simz.”

Like a scotish name McSims, but with p sound replacing the c, or like mupsims with the least possible u sound.

It was em-pee-sims for me at first, but then when I saw one of these threads (a thread asking this same question, that is) at some point probably back in 2000, I first learned of the “mip-sims” pronunciation and that one somehow became permanently lodged in my brain.

Oh, all right:

It’s pronounced “map-sih-meyes”.

I just can’t keep secrets. I apologize to the gerbils or whoever.

The land between your opinion and the pit.

“Emm Pee Ess Eye Emm Ess.”

It’s got a nice singsongy quality to it.

It’s MIP-sims for me.

Me too, but now that I’ve read this thread, I’ll probably change to mip-sims because I won’t be able to help it. It never even occurred to me that people would pronounce it any other way, for some reason.

Another vote for MIP-sims here. No, there isn’t an “I” in it but that’s the nature of pronouncing unpronounceable acronyms – you stick in vowel sounds wherever necessary.
