How do you pronounce Frigo cheese?

My husband and I disagree on this. He thinks the i is short and I think it’s long.

Frigo is a brand of Saputo Incorporated, a Canadian-based company founded by an Italian. Given that the founder is Italian, the Name of the company is Italian, and most importantly the name of the brand in question is Italian (‘frigo’ means ‘fridge’), I’m going to lean towards an Italian pronunciation. So, putting on the most stereotypical Italian accent I can muster, the proper prononciation should be something like:

“ahfareeeeeeego”, with a single-tap trilled ‘r’.

I always pronounce it (in my head) with a long e. I have never had occasion to say the word aloud.

Moved MPSIMS --> Cafe Society.

FRIE-go? FRIH-go? Nope. FREE-go. You’re both wrong.

I’ve never heard of it, but I’d pronounce it free-go.

Friggin’

I’ve never had to say it aloud, either, but “Freego” is how I say it to myself.
