How do you relieve fatigue from hay fever?

My biggest hay fever symptom is crushing fatigue. I’m currently using Nasonex and adding Singulair on bad days. While these medications take care of the itchy eyes, sneezing, and sinus pressure, they don’t generally touch the fatigue. And it’s the fatigue that screws my workday and my life.

I’ve found drinking tons of water helps. Eventually.

But surely someone out there can recommend other solutions? Prescription, non-prescription, I don’t care. I just want to wake up.

Used to be back in the day Zyrtec really did the trick, but it stopped working for me. I’ve been on Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, Singulair, Nasonex, and a couple of OTC things (Lortadine?). I have a nasal wash at home that I’m going to start soon, also.

I’ve heard that the drowsiness from Bendaryl eventually goes away after using it consistently. Any truth to that?

I have heard that if you avoid antihistamines altogether, your body will not suffer from the “rebound” effect that is very common, and makes your symptoms worse.

I have a friend who swears by doing a detox. I also heard something about a yeast cleanse with a Candida product that is supposed to help, sorry, I guess I couldn’t be much more vague, I just read about it yesterday but can’t find the link now.

I have very bad seasonal allergies but when I was pregnant 2 summers ago, I didn’t take any medications and my allergies were much less severe than usual. Last summer I was still breastfeeding so I didn’t take medication very often, and my allergies were also less severe than usual.

We’ll see how this summer goes - my allergies haven’t really kicked in yet, they usually start around May and run through September. I also suffer from the fatigue you describe, and it’s very debilitating, so I can sympathize.

Good luck!
