how do you rename the recycle bin?

the techs here at work keep renaming all of the icons, and i can’t figure out how to change the name of the recycle bin.

damn… i have to edit the registry? how much of a chance is there that i could seriously screw things up?

it’s against policy for us to have customers go into the registry for any reason, so i get the impression that it’s easy to screw things up, at least over the phone.

Windows keeps backup copies of previous registries on the drive for if things go wrong. I think it saves a new copy just before shutting down (don’t quote me on that) and then it will automatically restore a previous working version if things go haywire.

Personally, I have never had a registry go corrupt from making changes to it. I think that the situation is not quite as volitile as many think it is, but then, my lack of problems might be giving me extra confidence. That page I gave you has a program that can make the change for you if you don’t to do it manually. Just get it and give er’ a go.

Browse your Windows (98) CD for a program called “Tweak UI”. It will allow you to rename your recycle bin, among other very cool things. You don’t have to touh the registry.

well, since i’m at work and not allowed to download and install anything, nor do i have access to a win98 cd, i’ll have to do it via the registry. it should be ok.

ok, i did it! and i didn’t mess up! yay!

i really wish people would stop changing things on these computers. don’t people realize that these computers are not ours, that they belong to the company?? the company is generous enough to let us surf the web while we work, listen to cds, etc. but that doesn’t mean install whatever crap you want, download mp3s and change all of the settings on a computer that other people use, too!
