Let’s get this out of the way first…alot of you will think I’m a pervert for what leads up to my topic and maybe I am.
We’ve all probably have seen those places on the net that are gross for whatever reason…autopsy photos of famous people…
weird birth defects…bizarre sexual practices…horrible accidents.
I don’t know about you but going to some of those places at least once is like slowing down at a car wreck while driving by you know you really shouldn’t but it’s hard not to sometimes. With the net making everything right there in front of you on command…things you never thought you’d see otherwise…well it’s tempting is all I can say.
I am in a Yahoo group that searches for cool Briefcases at Yahoo and posts them to everyone in the group to gawk at salaciously.
A few days ago someone posted a Briefcase that I think crosses alot of bounds of taste no matter how jaded you may think you are. If you don’t know what I’m talking about Yahoo has a place where you can post your profile and up to 30megs of pictures(people will put up some pretty strange things) and this group I’m in searches for admittedly the sexy pics and lets everyone else know about them.
OK enough back ground I was looking through some Briefcases that someone posted for the group and there was this one Briefcase I cannot get out of my mind…it disturbed me enough I reported it to Yahoo…it was many pictures of a woman being mutilated in ways I never thought I’d see(spikes through breasts…nailing her to a board…a drill boring holes into parts of her body…nipples being sliced off…and more). To make things worse and make me doubt it was fake was the titles of each photo were things like “EX getting drilled”…EX getting nailed"…last one said “don’t ask”(this one was so bloody you couldn’t really see what had been done to her)
Good news…whether it was real or not I just checked and Yahoo removed the pictures…in fact the whole briefcase(the rest was really bizarre too)
But my question is how do you tell if this was really real or even whether this was done with this womans’ consent(thinking of the guy who advertised for anther man who he would kill and eat and someone actually agreed to allow it) so this world is stranger than even I gave it credit for.
With all the ways you can manipulate digital pictures nowadays could a killer post his crimes on the net and no one would realise the pics were real? Even if real who’s to say the person didn’t consent for it to be done(although even if she had lived she would of had scars from what was done forever…ie. missing a nipple)
So should i of just moved on to the next Briefcase hopefully more normal and forgotten about the previous one?
I had a hard time deciding which place to put this thread as it could go to General Questions or In My Humble Opinion…it IS a question but also IMHO these pictures crossed a line for me.
As an aside I was wondering…does Yahoo contact the authorities or do they just remove the pics and that’s it?
Of course, it’s often forgotten nowadays that there are other ways of faking photos. Without having seen the photos personally, I can say that there’s a lot which can be done with makeup, trick props, etc. Think of the last action movie you saw, and all the various gory or violent scenes… You don’t think those were real, do you? Sure, the movie companies have bigger budgets than probably went into those pictures, but then again, still picures are easier to fake than movies, too. You might have seen scars drawn onto a person’s skin with makeup, or fake blood, or a drill bit cut short to look like it was penetrating, in an unplugged drill.
That said, it might be real, too. And if the woman in question consented (which could be simply proven by her just coming forward and saying so), then I’m not sure why the authorities would be interested, at all. If it wasn’t with her consent, then I think it’s safe to say that the perpetrators will probably be caught relatively quickly. Posting pictures like that on the Internet, it wouldn’t take long to track them down, and if, when that happens, they can’t get a sworn statement from the model, they’d have a hard time defending themselves.
I think you did the right thing. I cannot distinguish real from fake photos or stories sometimes. But if something disturbs me enough, or shocks my conscience, I’d have to forward that for others to consider. I sent some of those Nigerian scam letters to authorities.
But the question is … which yahoo group are you in ?
Fortunatly %99.99 of what you see if fake thank god. I have worked professionally with the net now for 6 or 7 years and have only seen two REAL murders.
The one where the guy gets stabbed threw the throat
The Russian soldier in afgahnistan getting his arm ripped off.
no i was not looking for them someone thought i would find it funny to watch them i did not
One of the easiest ways is to zoom in very close on the image. Often, digitally edited photos will reveal a difference in pixelation that becomes obvious when blown up to several hundred percent.
I didn’t keep the photos and Yahoo has since removed the Briefcase so I cannot check. All I can say like most people I have seen REAL deaths on the net and and it looked real to me. This wasn’t like it was a great breast and just a nail into it but there were previous half healed scars and a greenish tinge to the whole thing as though alot of things had happened to this woman in the past over a period of time.
As for which group this was I can put it here but I’m not sure if this would be allowed. This isn’t all nudity or sex in these briefcases…granted most are and this group focuses on those primarily. I find it interesting to see what otherwise “normal” people will put on the web for anyone to see. There are of course some briefcases that are just in essense ads for some porn sites but in the group we try to weed those out and just post briefcases that are “real” not those with another agenda.
If the Mods say I can put the URL here I will but I just checked and on their home page there’s a naked chick…I think there’s rules about this sort of thing here.
BTW You may have a tough time finding these groups…Yahoo hides them(they won’t show in a search of groups at Yahoo) as they are not thrilled to be connected with them and I did a Google search with no results. Funny situation…I know the exact URL and I know how I found them in the first place but I don’t think I can put either URL here. Good luck!
Darren,
I would love if you would privately e-mail this link to this group. My profile shows my e-mail address. My profile is linked at the bottom of this post. Thanks, NotBob13
How do you know that video is a fake, Alexei? I have seen some terrible things online, and that was one of the few that I turned off as quick as possible in total disgust. It looked very real; I don’t know how you could fake that. Never saw the Russian Afghanistan video, though.
As far as the OP, I usu. force myself to think they’re always fakes; I would still report something like that to appropriate authorities, though.
unless you witnessed it yourself how can you tell if any piece of footage is real or faked. My advice is to just believe in yourself and everything else will fall into place
