God forbid Trump should suffer a debilitating or lethal health “incident”. I mean he is 70 and obese.
Trump must be going nuts, widespread nationwide protests today.
I’m not saying I want it to happen. I was thinking more of his properties in the Middle East and in Europe. The crap he’s been pulling is exactly the sort of thing that radicalizes Muslims to act in such ways. I don’t think there is much we can do about it, either. He’s made his bed (and sadly, ours, too).
With respect to our own citizenry, I completely agree with you about wanting a “loyal opposition,” and like you also, I hope it can be so. But radicalization is not limited to Muslims abroad – as we have already seen under the Obama Administration.
What people who support Trump’s ghastly immigration actions fail to appreciate is that there are so few acts of terrorism on our soil by immigrants and/or refugees. The vast majority of those attacks have been by American citizens, radicalized and fed up by the hatred they see in this country toward them. Trump has now magnified this anger by a factor of at least 100, I reckon.
I expressed the thought about destruction of his properties because I wondered if Trumps response would be to quit while he was ahead… or to escalate further by dropping a bomb on the country where it happened (even if the perpetrator was from some other place). I hate the choice I feel sure he would make.
Where does “carried out by angry mob and hanged from streetlamp” fit in the poll?
Yeah, I still put death quite likely. Which would also be an Amendment 25 thing. So I’ll to with that. Although I put equal odds between mental health removal and impeachment.
There’s a zero percent chance of Trump getting impeached. He’s giving the GOP the dream chance to be everything they are but were too afraid to show until now. There’ll be no outcry about Muslim bans or torture or rolling back minority or LGBT protections or a “Papers, please” immigration policy or dismantling a free press because these things are all part of the modern GOP DNA. It’s not that they’re the Party of Trump now, it’s that they always have been but used to feel like they had to pretend otherwise. You’ll get the occasional impotent dissent much like when a party has the votes they need so they let a few guys vote against to look “independent” but Ryan & McConnell will continue to suck Trump’s dick not because they’re being forced to but because they like it.
Unfortunately, redistricting makes 2018 nearly impossible for the Democrats in the House and it’s a terrible year to try to reclaim the Senate due to whose seats are up. The best we can hope for is some slight inroads to set the foundation for 2020. Sucks, but there it is.
No option for “Finishes term - LOTS of problems”.
I don’t think there’s a chance in the world he would be impeached.
Since Trump would never sign that bill Congress would need a 2/3rds majority in both chambers to override his veto. Impeachment only takes a simple majority in the House and 2/3rds in the Senate.
Section 4 is not a permanent solution. Even if Congress (by 2/3rds majority vote in each chamber) were to resolve that Trump was incapacitated after he tried to resume his duties he’d still legally be the President, just without any power or role in government. And Trump could just keep sending written declarations to Congress over and over again, restarting the 21 day cycle.
Death. Maybe medical, more likely assassination or terrorist attack. He seems to be trying his level best to make everybody here afraid for their lives/rights/livelihood while having orgasms yelling “radical islamic terrorism” as often as he can find the opportunity and painting every Muslim nation that hasn’t attacked us specifically as enemies with his “ban.” There are unstable, violent folks in any population, and he’s poking them all with a big stick. Heck, it might even be one of his disillusioned former supporters.
The right seem to be still deluding themselves that this is “just another election” and that opposition to Trump is “just the same as opposition to Obama,” so I doubt they’ll take the necessary precautions.
I vote out in a year, in the ground, and not a martyr except to the deplorables.
There are Republicans starting to stand up to the Circus Peanut-- McCain, Graham, Amash. Republicans are beholden to their corporate overlords, and I don’t imagine our economy will love having Capt. Chaos running the show like this for months and months and months and months. If protests keep up, and members of Congress continue to hear from their constituents-- as well as their well-moneyed sugar daddies-- Trump could very well be gone in 18 months or less. Pence would be exactly who they’d like in the WH-- pliable, conservative, traditional, and not willing to blow up everything these billionaires hold dear.
I could be very wrong, and I didn’t vote in the poll, because I honestly don’t know how it all ends. I keep thinking “Ok, now an adult will show up and take care of things.” But nope. In fact, it just keeps getting more twisted. I mean, Steve Fucking Bannon on the National Security Council? This is dark, dark shit, man. Things do NOT end well for America if Trump and Bannon stay put for the next four/eight years.
McCain “stood up” to Bush on torture as well. That and a buck will get you a cup of coffee at McDonald’s. Party leaders let that happen because it gives an illusion of debate on all sides – then they do what they were going to do anyway.
Impeachment, after he does something like nuke Mecca or Mexico City. Then Pence is put into power and finishes the job of turning the country into a permanent corporate/theocratic/racist one party dictatorship.
Loving this!
I think there will be a kind of low level civil war that bubbles for years, with a planned parenthood shooting here, or a mosque burning there. We’ll never really heal this rift.
Yeah, we really need to avoid saying I told you so and instead work with them to undo the damage.
Trump will be gone, probably sooner rather than later. Boredom with the life-style and increasing gloom as he catches glimpses of his own unsuitability will lead him to plot an exit. The right-wing GOP will be delighted, with wingnut Pence running the White House, the EPA gutted, etc. They can undo some of the worst damage to institutions like EPA and blame the rest on Trump, but EPA, State Dept., USDA etc. will never be what they were before. With mass resignations, loss of institutional memory, and loss of respect from the educated class all around the world, severe damage to the prestige of the American government will be permanent.
The GOP has always wanted to destroy the Federal Government, but it used paperwork burden and 5% budget cuts as its tools. Now they’re using a Wrecking Ball.
After his resgnation, Trump will be richer than ever, able to use the secrets he’s learned and the diplomatic favors he’s earned. I don’t know exactly how the resignation will play out, but Trump and Congress will work out something that’s Win-Win for the GOP and for Trump.
Oh man, they are not. Take a stroll over to Reddit - Dive into anything to see what his faithful voters think.
Then take a long hot shower, preferably using antibacterial soap.
At the rate we’re going, Trump isn’t the one who is going to die of apoplexy. It’s every leftie in the country. In 2020 Trump will run unopposed because everyone on the DLC is in the ICU on life support from stress-related nervous breakdowns.

Shodan
On the one hand, I get it. They came around. Good for them.
OTOH it’s going to be difficult and quite distasteful to just forgive and forget, for myself and I’m certain for many others. I have empathy, but I have zero sympathy. HE TOLD THEM WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO. WE told them what he was going to do. And they still just chose to hear whatever it is they wanted to hear.
How much trust are you really willing to give people who have just been proven this gullible and stupid, this one apparent “come-to-Jesus moment” notwithstanding?
.
One man’s apoplexy is another man’s kick in the pants for motivation. Just depends on how much it unnerves you.
