In our annual holiday letter, I’m writing a short paragraph about my one-day trip to NYC. I want to relate the story of the Weight Watchers meeting I attended on Broadway, specifically quoting the wonderful leader, who said: “Tell me your weight loss total and tell me your story!”
She said it in the best New York accent ever and I want it to come across… Help?
The ‘n’ instead of and is important. And for some people the word ‘total’ would sound more like ‘tow-dal’ with a hard-to-explain glottal stop in the middle instead of the consonant. It’s what turns where the pretty tree is to Rockuhfelluh Cen’uh.
