What’s the opposite of ruthless, anyway? Ruthful? Ruthsome? Ruthical?
Just remember, even if the widow says that she doesn’t have the rent, even if she begs you to have mercy on her small children, left fatherless by the war, and a poor widow, for pity’s sake, you must have the rent.
Damn it, it’s your rent! The rent is due! Just get the rent, and everything will be fine.
However, because you’re new at this, you can let the rent go if she compromises her virtue, if you know what I mean. She has to do something no honorable lady would dare do, give you that thing that has only, to that point, been a gift to her husband. You know what I mean, I think.
That’ll give you a good start toward ruthlessness.

Step 3. Don’t feel guilty about affects of aforementioned mean comments
Step 3. Do WHATEVER it takes to get what you want.
Step 4. Don’t care about who this hurts.
Step 5. Wait for this to become automatic and natural.
