Listening to old Beastie Boys today, there’s the lyrics:
“I can do the Smurf, the Popeye, and the Jerry Lewis
I like Bullwinkle but I don’t like Moose”
I assume those are dance moves. Can someone describe them to me?

I’m guessing “smurf” is the old break-dancing moved, described at the bottom of this page.
I thought it was I like bullwinkle… // not boris.
Im STILL trying to find out first hand… what the hell Brass Monkey is.
A funky monkey. Duh.
That, and an implement for holding cannonballs in a pyramid form.
Seriously, Ive been told that it is a drink. If Its a brand name or a ready-made drink… or the name of a cocktail/mixed drink I still dont know.
On a further related hi-jack, I know if I ever go to White Castle;
“White castle fries only come in one size”
Then again, The only thing we have in GA is Kyrstal, which I think is similar… but not quite there.
What the smurf are you talking about?
Brass Monkey was a bottled cocktail made by Heublein, promoted in the '70s with a series of text-heavy magazine ads full of tall tales about how the drink was tied up with WWII espionage and a mysterious spy code-named “The Brass Monkey.”
And the story about the cannonballs is a myth.
Here’s a recipe for a reasonably good approximation of the Bottled stuff. I’ve had both.
