How does one dry a Camelback?

My wife and I in our infinite search for new discovery have both purchased Camelbak’s - personal hydration systems, for those long hikes in the desert. My question is simple. How the heck do you completely dry the bladder inside, once you are finished hiking? It appears tough to get all the water out. Any suggestions?

“They” make a hanger for the bladder that allowes air to circulate. Check Academy/REI/Oshmans/Your Sporting Goods Store of Choice.

Second item down.

I used to hang mine on a coathook peg. I would insert the peg through the mouth, and make sure the peg was far enough into the bladder to allow air to access the whole thing. I would also take the valve off the end of the tube to let air through the tube as well.

I also found that rinsing my Camelback with baking soda and water immediately after use kept it fresh.

I stuff mine with a few loosely crumpled-up paper towels and then hang it in the utility room near the heater for an hour or so. Always works.

With a Camelhair dryer  (Sorry…I had to)

Seriously, take the drinking tube (still connected) and put it into the bladder as far as it will go with the bladder still laying flat. The tube should make a gentle ‘s’ curve that keeps all the bladder open. Use where the tube connects to the bladder to hang upside down over something and Voila!

We keep our Camelbacks in the freezer (filled with water) when not in use.

I take camelbacks a bit like nuclear reactors, once commisioned they can never be not is use. I store water in them continously, and use either bleach solution or iodine to disinfect them.

I just prop mine open on the counter for a day.
