Goddammit! i’m spending hours trying to un-join, can’t find the information. Please help. Any clues would be most welcome.

Funny, I just went there and got the “are you sure” box that required my password and confirmation and it kept coming up over and over.
You don’t “un-join” Facebook any more than you “un-join” the Mafia.
(If you’re tagged in anyone else’s photos, for example, you’re there forever)
I think unjoining MySpace was more impossible: you jump through hoop after hoop to try and cancel the account. They do everything very sneakily as well - when you click the button to cancel your account, a box pops up saying, ‘are you sure? Click yes or no (click yes if you want to stay with MySpace)’, they put the relevant ‘cancelling’ text in light grey so it’s hard to read, etc.
Then even after officially canceling my account, I still get emails for my account name. In order to request that the emails stop, you have to reinstate your account!
You can remove tags on photos if they link to you, as opposed to say some generic non-link text descriptor tag. IIRC, go to the tagged pic and there should be a link that says “Remove tag”.
I had a different experience with cancelling my myspace account. I canceled it at the beginning of March. After a few annoying windows with all those “are you sure?” questions, it got closed after a day or two. I haven’t received any annoying messages through email. Maybe you can filter out those messages to your Spam folder?
Once you join, you never really leave.
I don’t really see the point in keeping you though… if you’re an inactive person then you’re not really benefiting them.
I had about 3 emails from them today, they are now part of my spam filter.
