Saw a story about the organization on 60 Minutes and wondered how they pay for the upkeep on their ‘castle’ (taxes/water bills housecleaning and such). going by the 60 Minutes piece, the don’t get much if any advertisers. I suppose they still get royalties from Bored of The Rings. Do they have an endowment from the university or alumni?

Open it up, hit ctrl-F and enter the search term “Harvard”

Seriously, that was an easy google. . .
Wait … What? … they pay their bills by giving blow-jobs to all the senior managers at Harvard University … pretty sure I read that in National Lampoon … step-by-step instructions so you can do the same thing where you work … sure fire way to get ahead in life …
I read in one of the National Lampoon memoirs that the NatLamp founders agreed to pay a royalty to the Harvard Lampoon for rights to the name. The royalty extended to all the NatLamp products (like the movies) and eventually grew big enough to pay for the upkeep on the Harvard Lampoon properties and fund a significant endowment.
That’s not surprising. The royalties from Animal House alone are probably millions of dollars. It’s so nice that those kids at Harvard finally caught a break!
… and provides only a link. Seriously.
One of those links seems to indicate that some of the services are provided by a trust company: it’s only income seems to be “contributions”. Presumably the contributions come from the other company, which according to the other link, 10 years ago was promoting National Lampoon IP, and receiving benefits from same.
